Inspiration of the Week – Bruce Lee

As a child, I took karate lessons.  And on weekends my pops would bring home all of these imported kung-fu movies… You know – the ones with the mouth movements in english completely off… lol.

Anyway, watching these movies kind of shaped my mind a lot coming up.  One of my biggest inspirations was Bruce Lee.  He was such a skinny guy but had his body trained in a way where he was just so strong.  The funny thing wasI had gotten this leather Varsity jacket for winning a martial arts competition around the 3rd grade, and had “Brandon Lee” embroidered into my jacket over the heart being that my name was Brandon, and so was Bruce Lee’s son.  After that I actually used to write “Lee” as my middle name on tests and homework at school… smh – the good ol’ days. lol

Anyway as I got older I really started to see Bruce Lee more as a man, and read a few of his books and really started getting up on some of his philosophy.  Many people do not know this, but he wasn’t just a crazy Asian guy who could kick your butt, but he was also a teacher, philosopher, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and founder of the Jeet Kune Do concept. He is also considered one of the most influential martial artists of the 20th century, and a cultural icon.  One of his famous quotes is “All fixed set patterns are incapable of adaptability or pliability. The truth is outside of all fixed patterns.”

Now for those of you who follow myself as well as Lethal Inspiration and everything that we do, we are HUGE seekers of absolute truth.  We are all about questioning society and the world around us.  We are about progress and change, and we are about putting out work that can mentally train our communities to look for peace collectively.  We look to be the difference, and the change in our Generation.

Bruce Lee also is known for sayings such as “If you make an ass out of yourself, there will always be someone to ride you”.  And this also we take in to our brand.  We look to set a higher standard of living being that we live in an age of dumbing everything down and depleting the minds of the common man.  We look not to be like the “ass” that Bruce Lee speaks of but up standing human beings who can effectively express ourselves and look out for our fellow mankind.

If you want to learn more about Bruce Lee, or really just take a deeper look into his work you can see much more how it has affected the mission of this brand.
